Fashion Forward- Sandra Paul, Chameleon

SP: I’m the eclectic. I like eccentric fancy items so I would say that it borders on trendy and edgy. You will usually see me wearing something that stands out, usually with my fashion accessories. I absolutely love fashion accessories. The bigger the happier I am. I love statement pieces, and you will see me pile and layer it on! There are those times I love busting out the clothing that people say “I would of never thought to have bought that, it looks great”.

FG: Name 5 items every woman should have in her closet.

SP: I separate my closets; I have one for my clothing and another for my jewelry. So for my clothing closet surprisingly is not full. Most people will say “I would have thought you had more clothes in your closet”. My essentials, well of course, that little black dress, a nice pair of dark denim, nice crisp white collar top, an exotic print – either top or dress- and pencil skirt. My reason for this is you can easily build on the basics. I kid you not I can wear a denim jean and white collar top three times a week looking different ways.

FG: Who is your fashion icon and why?

SP: This is a question that is hard to answer because it has changed over the time. I’ve never seen my mother wearing jeans and sneakers. She was always dressed and took pride on how she looked. In regards to media, one person that I have always loved to watch and have admired from young age is Diana Ross. She always looks fierce. Today, I love many different icons such as Beyonce, The Kardashian’s, -I believe have a great sense of style- and Rihanna is too fierce for words.

FG: What fashion trend is your least favorite?

SP: I didn’t like the Harem pant; they just didn’t look right on me. I’m getting tired of studs. As a buyer for my own boutique, www.shopchameleon.com, I really have grown tired of seeing this trend pop up season in and season out.

FG: What is the weirdest item in your closet?

SP: I would say this blazer/jacket from Save the Queen. From the normal eye, one may say “what kind of jacket is that” and that is why I love it! It’s strange and I find that where the beauty lies. It very colorful with different textures of material –the main color is red…I mean it just a crazy live jacket and yes weird in a beautiful way, lol.

FG: What is your style philosophy?

SP: I can list a bunch of my personal “do’s” and “don’ts” but the most important are: One, It’s all in the fit, Don’t knock something just because you see it hanging on the hanger, Take the time and try it on. Two, use your imagination, which is what fashion is about. Play and create your own look based on your own individuality. Three, don’t be “matchy-matchy” it’s ok to play with colors and textures.
