MM: Exotic. I love combining the extravagance of India with the sophistication of New York City. My look is decadent and all about making a statement.
FG: Name 5 items every woman should have in her closet.
MM: Every woman should own an embellished tunic that she can pair with white jeans and jeweled sandals. A flirty cocktail dress, you never know when you will get your next invite. Oversized sunglasses, to induce mystery and are perfect for days when you don’t feel like wearing makeup. Just a dash of lipgloss and you’re ready to head out the door in a flash. Animal skin handbag, forget monogram bags, nothing looks more expensive or luxurious than an exotic snakeskin or alligator handbag. Embossed leather makes the same statement without breaking the bank. A little white dress. They are so versatile and approachable. Pair your LWD with gold accessories for a look that can take you from LA to Doha.
FG: Who is your fashion icon and why?
MM: I am inspired by old Bollywood actresses, they were so flamboyant and bold but still maintained their aura of elegance. My favorite is Zeenat Aman, she’s a Bollywood icon.

MM: I don’t recommend harem pants and hate feather hair extensions.
FG: What the weirdest item in your wardrobe?
MM: An indie designer once sent me a gold lame dress that looks like an astronaut costume, I’m still trying to find a place to wear it, have a feeling it will never see the light of day.
