Dawn Baker has more that ten years experience in fashion merchandising and production as well as styling television personalities. Baker opened happy LA in 2007 and oversees all aspects of the boutique’s operation. Read on to jump into the fashion forward world of Dawn Baker..

FG: How would you describe your personal style?

DB: Boho meets classic chic (with a little bit of California-influence mixed in).

FG: Name 5 items every woman should have in her closet.

DB: A black dress, a cashmere long wrap, a pair of flattering dark jeans, a silk top in a color that can be worn year round and complements her skin and her assets, and a pair of comfortable yet stylish heels. I prefer wedges as they are the most comfortable heels for me.

FG: Who is your fashion icon and why?

DB: Ralph Lauren! He started out with one tie and then practically over-night he changed the way the world dresses…and for the better! Ralph Lauren is a classic, who has stayed true to himself and everything that he produces. That is an admirable trait and one that is hard to find.

FG: What fashion trend is your least favorite?

DB: Cropped tops and colored jeans for anyone who is over the age of 30.

FG: What the weirdest item in your wardrobe?

DB: I wouldn’t say that I have any “weird” items in my closet…but I definitely have a few that I would consider “old fashion style choices”…and pieces that are FAR from what I would ever wear today!

FG: What is your style philosophy?

DB: My style philosophy: keep it effortlessly chic…and go with layers!
