In honor of Chinese New Year, Friday Girl TV was invited to cover the launch of Sakiri Vodka at Fusion 19 in conjunction with 19th Hole Magazine and the New Times Culture Education Center/Shen Yun Performing Arts Center. It was a fabulous event and the location was very posh and glamorous. The drinks made with Sakiri Vodka were yummy! We enjoyed bringing in the year of the Rabbit with great drinks, mini bites, a fashion show and a wonderful performance.

This past weekend, Friday Girl had the pleasure of attending the launch of Pink Kitty Cabaret, a fabulous burlesque and dance show created by Andrea Kelly. Andrea Kelly is a dancer and choreographer who has extensive experience through working with her ex-husband, R&B star R. Kelly with his tours, videos and performances. Her choreography is a theatrical fusion of African, Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Belly Dancing. Elements of her dance show her inspirations of Bob Fosse, Alvin Ailey, Tina Turner, Solid Gold, and street Hip-Hop.

The show was thoroughly enjoyable. Andrea Kelly has assembled a great group of young dancers who will definitely benefit from her wonderful quality of movement and tutelage. We look forward to seeing her dance company, Andrea Kelly Dance Theater grow and flourish.

Right before Thanksgiving, super-producer Polow Da Don held the 4th Annual Star-Studded Thanksgiving Carnival and Turkey Giveaway in Southwest Atlanta. Hosted by Big Boi, there were performances by Ludacris, Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Lloyd, Keri Hilson and Chris Brown as well as a turkey giveaway where over 1000 families received turkeys, yams and collard greens for Thanksgiving. In spite of the weather, there were thousands in attendance to enjoy the festivities and performances. The concert was also streamed live online and people in Brazil, Nigeria, London, Ireland and Spain also had an opportunity to enjoy the event.

People braved the elements to enjoy a great show.

Friday Girl TV was invited to attend an event hosted by Cate Adair, the costume designer for Desperate Housewives and we were very excited to meet her and learn more about Chamilia. Unfortunately we just missed Cate (darn that Atlanta traffic) but we did have an opportunity to learn more about Chamilia and Be the Match. We also had a chance to play with some beautiful beads and make some wonderful bracelets.

This is a wonderful organization that helps people who need bone marrow transplants through donors. For more information about Be the Match or to sign up, visit www.marrow.org.

Look at the pretty beads!

Gotta love the sparkles!

Jewelry love at first sight.

October loved the most sparkly, expensive beads!

These are the Be the Match beads. Lovely!

This is the most expensive bead and it's completely hand made.

It was a fabulous event held at Barron’s Fine Jewelry outside of Atlanta. In addition to the wonderful Chamilia display, there were lots of lovely, shiny baubles available for purchase. If you want to feed your bead/charm obsession or are interested in joining the ranks of the other Chamilia fans, visit www.chamilia.com to find a store that carries Chamilia near you. Don’t forget to visit www.marrow.org to learn more about Be the Match.
