FG: Where did you purchase your shoes?

FG: Why did you purchase them?
SC: I belong to a monthly shoe club and they were one of my selections, I fell in love with them immediately. I love the color, height of the heal and design. They are very unique looking and extremely sexy. I absolutely love them and feel sexy and beautiful in them. I have people stop me on the street to comment on them.

I am ALWAYS in my heals, weather its running meetings in NY or pushing the stroller at the zoo. My shoe collection is an extension of me.

SC: a shot of confidence even on a not so confident day. Everyone asks me how I can walk and even run in them, they ask me all the time if my feet hurt, they don’t!

Taryn Scher, president and founder of TK PR, has always been driven by a burning desire to excel in everything she does. After just six months as an executive assistant and showroom manager at Blanc de Chine, Taryn was promoted to in-house pr and marketing manager. After tackling New York, Taryn relocated to South Carolina and decided to start her own public relations company, TK PR. Within no time, TK PR enlisted clients from coast to coast in the “luxury lifestyle”category. The majority of Taryn’s wardrobe has been built thanks to clients in the fashion industry, however all 200 pairs of shoes have been purchased on her own since she has yet to rep a shoe line.. FG: Who designed your stiletto you submitted and where did you purchase them?
TK: Christian Louboutin; Barney’s New York

FG: Is there a story behind why you purchased them?
TK: This is the only pair of shoes I’ve ever purchased that I didn’t REALLY want. I was at the after-Christmas Barney’s shoe sale with my best friend, and we were in heaven, snapping up pairs by the dozen. You-name-it designers all 60% off, you can imagine the elbow-to-elbow walls of women. We gathered all the styles we wanted to try on and took our place on a couch. As I was trying on a pair of Dries Van Noten black pumps (which I also bought) I saw a woman pick up the red Louboutins from my pile of “try-ons”. I walked over to her to tell her that it was my pile and not a free-for-all and she asked me if she could try them on. Caught a bit off guard, I said, “You can try them, but I’m buying them.” She gazed longingly at the shoes as she tried them on, and I walked over to her and said, “Can I have them back now please, I’m buying them.” Very long story short, the clerk had to get involved and give back the shoes to their I-saw-them-first rightful owner (me) and even though I’d selected 2 other pairs that I truly wanted, I bought these on principal alone. Don’t mess with me and my shoes.

Robin Craig, 3 Time Emmy Winning Producer

Robin Craig is a three time Emmy winning television producer with over 25 years of experience in radio, film and television. Robin is also a member of Women in Film and Television (Houston Chapter), and she is a motivational speaker who writes a blog, Today’s Widow, for the Houston Chronicle. If that wasn’t enough Robin also hosts Robin Craig…Live on Mingle Media TV on Tuesdays at 10 pm eastern where viewers can participate in the chat room and ask questions to this live web show’s callers and web cam guests and she is also a regular contributor on The CNN 650 Morning Show with Brent Clanton and Steven Kay. FG: Who is the designer of your shoes and where did you purchase them?
RC: My shoes were designed by “Two Lips” and I purchased them at an independently owned shoe store in Houston, Texas, that unfortunately closed recently. I loved these shoes so much, I thankfully bought them in three colors, so that should keep me going for a while.

FG: Why did you purchase them?
RC: I purchased this particular pair of shoes because I needed a new pair of dazzlers to wear down the Red Carpet at the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California, in 2009. They clearly brought me luck because I won my 2nd Emmy that evening. I began calling these shoes my “Good Luck Shoes,” and I wore them again for continued good luck at the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010. I was excited and blessed to win my 3rd consecutive Emmy, so now, I call these shoes my “Great Luck” shoes.

This week’s Shoe Queen is Laurie Friedman an interior designer with her own design firm, aptly named Laurie Friedman Design. Laurie began her career as a painter represented at Philip Dash Gallery in NYC and has worked as a film and set designer for many film and television shows likes, Dead Man Walking, Before Night Falls, Sex and the City and Law and Order. In addition design work, Laurie is the founder of Art for Media, the premiere art sales and leasing company for film and print.

FG: Who is the designer of your shoes and where did you purchase your shoes?

FG: Is there a story behind them?

LF: These shoes called out to me. I thought they were the most beautiful elegant simple stiletto- they are sleek, chic, and flattering to the leg, the unusual diagonal strap added drama to design and I fell in love with them.

Christie Mawer, Creator of The Bad Kitty

This week’s Shoe Queen is a Bad Kitty! Chistie Mawer, having a background in public speaking, theater and dance, developed a unique business called The Bad Kitty which creates a safe, fun space that empowers women to rediscover and embrace themselves and their full expression of their authentic sensuality. Accomplished through a combination of conventional self development work and sensual dance workshops The Bad Kitty helps women find that true beauty is when she is living her authentic self!

FG: Who is the designer of your shoes and where did you purchase them?

CT: These shoes are Roberto Vianni. I have a lot of Vianni’s. I shop at Spring and Sterling shoes a lot. I’m Canadian, so I’m not sure if you have those stores in the States. Everytime I walk into either store, the shoes I’m immediately drawn to are Vianni. I’ve come to accept that as soon as I look at the sole his name will be there. I still giggle, though. I never thought I’d be so designer loyal!
FG: Why did you purchase them?

CT: I’m 6 feet tall and yet I LOVE heels and have no problem wearing them. Thankfully my 5’10 boyfriend isn’t bothered either! These particular shoes, I simply fell in love with. Sometimes it’s just a love affair and nothing else. I pretty progressive when I went to Fashion Week later that year and most of the models were wearing similar style shoes.

Crystal Brown- Tatum is the President of her own PR company, Crystal Clear Communications. In addition, Crystal has appeared on several national television and radio shows including Oprah and Women’s Entertainment Television. Ebony magazine named our Shoe Queen a 2006 Top Bachelorette and she was a 2006 Women on the Move honoree with Texas Executive Women. Crystal’s company, Crystal Clear Communications, was a 2008 Pinnacle Award Finalist with the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce and an Emerging-10 Award Winner with the Houston Minority Business Council. Mrs. Brown-Tatum has been named a 2009 Blazing Star Award Winner by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas and the Houston Business Journal named her a 2009 40 under 40 award recipient. With all the awards and accolades Crystal has already received she is proud to now add Queen to the list. All Hail this week’s Shoe Queen!

FG: Who is the designer of your shoes and where did you purchase them?

CT: The designer is Steve Madden and they were purchased at a Steve Madden store in the Houston Galleria during the Sisters Network Breast Cancer Conference weekend.

FG: Why did you purchase them?

CT: Prior to being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, I would have never bought or wore pink high heels. Now that I proudly wear a pink ribbon often and embrace the color pink in general, these shoes remind me of my journey and make me feel beautiful and strong.

This week’s Shoe Queen is Takiya Smith, owner of the trendy, fashion forward and upscale boutique, Chic Soshoelites (pronounced “sheik socialites) where Takiya offers moderately priced specialty & designer shoes. Soshoelites puts a spin on the popularly coined term “girls day out” by offering the luxury of bringing “girls day in” to offer you shoes, fun & stress free shopping, by way of a traveling boutique and in home shoe parties! How could she NOT be our Shoe Queen?!

FG: Who is the designer of your shoes and where did you purchase them?

TS: This shoe is actually one that I carry in my boutique, and it is called Lexxus by Bumper. It can also be found online and in Baker’s across the country. This shoe was also featured in an issue of Marie Claire!

FG: Is there a story behind them?

TS: When I first saw this shoe, I knew I had to have it due to the different look and style of it, last fall. It’s really comfortable but very trendy and has a rocker type feel to it with it’s spandex and cut out design.
